A bit about Viki S

I am a practising photographer and videographer with a BA (Hons) Photography degree from Leeds Arts University. I draw, print and paint regularly for my own pleasure and love to use pencil, ink and watercolour. I have taught art and photography for 5 years and worked in schools and education for over 10. I have knowledge and experience of teaching both AQA art and photography to GCSE and A level. Seeing their confidence grow and getting to know their strengths and weaknesses which in turn enables me to adapt my teaching to individual requirements. I enjoy using my strong subject knowledge to develop the skills and aptitude of my students. My teaching style is relaxed, warm and well-organised. I like to plan and prepare for my lessons to ensure students get the most possible from them. We will have a friendly chat about areas of strength and where more support might be needed. I can then suggest further inspiration, help with processes and techniques, annotations and critical thinking. I am most familiar with teaching the AQA GCSE Art and Design specification covering the Art, Craft and Design and Photography titles. Staying up to date with how GCSE Art is assessed is crucial to my teaching practice which is why I attend standardisation meetings to see live examples of how students have met the requirements. GCSE Art and Photography are generally taught from year 10 to 11. Sometimes GCSE content starts in year 9. While my teaching speciality lies in GCSE, I also teach all year groups up to A-level.
