A bit about Patrick J

I am an educationist. I pursued science education and child development studies as my first degree. I have about 8years of experience in tutoring science both in Ghana and the UK. I also, hold MSc in Environmental Health from the University of Birmingham in the UK Because of my genuine and my passion for tutoring sciences, I can teach most of the topics, especially in chemistry and physics without looking through a textbook. I am ready to make you develop an interest and love for chemistry and physics topics that you are finding challenges in. chemistry physics Developed all prep work for the advanced curriculum for years 8, 9, 10, and 11 students. Designed interactive classroom activities to enhance student engagement. Designed interesting lab activities, allowing students to explore the magical world of integrated science. Taught students to understand the theory and principles of engineering. Worked above and beyond expectations by tutoring struggling students after school. Provided extra academic support and enrichment: developed and distributed study skills materials and prompted group study sessions. Identified areas where additional training was required and implemented specific supportive teaching strategies. Set, conducted, and supervised semester examinations: evaluated their progress and maintained accurate records of the same. 09/2013 to 06/2017 in Ghana. Tutored General Science. 08/2014 to 12/2017, part-time in Ghana. Tutored chemistry/physics. 01/2018 to 03/2018, part-time in Ghana. Tutored chemistry/physics. 03/2018 to 09/2022, full-time in Ghana. Tutored general science. 09/2022 to 10/2022, part-time in the UK. Cover science tutor. 10/2022 to 07/2023, part - time in the UK. Cover Science tutor. I love when I employ skills and strategies to break down the topics into most understanding forms. I love when students understand the lessons. When I make students understand the most challenging topics in chemistry and Physics. Used interactive strategies. Used audio and visual methods. Conduct practical experiments to solve problems. Used students' - centered approach. Check students' readiness or have strategies to make students ready for the lesson. I don't have personal feelings, emotions, or preferences, so I don't experience favorites or have personal opinions. However, I can provide information about the role of a science tutor in the UK if that's what you're interested in. So, as a Science tutor in the UK, helps students understand and excel in various scientific subjects, providing guidance, explanations, and support to enhance their learning experience. I contribute to students' academic growth and help them develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. "In my philosophy of teaching science, I believe in fostering a student-centered and inquiry-based learning environment. Science is not just a subject to be memorized, but a dynamic process of exploration and discovery. My primary goal is to ignite curiosity and inspire a genuine passion for understanding the natural world. I aim to create a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and engaging in hands-on activities. By encouraging active participation and critical thinking, I help students develop problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom. I view myself as a facilitator and guide, rather than a lecturer, encouraging students to take ownership of their learning journey. Hands-On Activities. Students often enjoy practical experiments, demonstrations, and hands-on activities that allow them to interact directly with scientific concepts. These activities can make abstract ideas more concrete and memorable. Relevance to Real Life. When you connect scientific concepts to real-life situations, students can see the practical applications and relevance of what they're learning. This helps them appreciate the value of science in their everyday experiences. Visual Aids. Visual aids such as diagrams, illustrations, videos, and simulations can enhance understanding and make complex topics more accessible. Visual representation of concepts can be especially helpful in science education. One of my greatest successes in teaching science was when I worked with a group of students who initially struggled with understanding complex physics concepts. I designed a series of interactive and hands-on experiments that visually demonstrated these concepts in action. I also provided real-world examples that related to their interests and daily experiences. Over time, I noticed a remarkable transformation in their understanding and enthusiasm. The students went from feeling overwhelmed to becoming actively engaged and curious about physics. Witnessing their 'aha' moments as they connected theoretical knowledge to practical applications was truly rewarding. EDUCATION 2022 – 2023 MSc in Environmental Health (Full Taught), University of Birmingham, United Kingdom (not completed) Relevant modules include Microbiology and food safety, Health protection, Air pollution and climate change, dissertation, and research work, Occupational health and safety, public health integration, Housing and law, and Food control and hygiene and management. 2009 - 2013 Bachelor of Education in childcare/Science Education, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast - Ghana (Second Class Upper Division) Relevant modules include Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Childcare and development, Basic mathematics, Health and safety of a child, educational psychology, educational philosophy and sociology, educational statistics, guidance and counseling, Special education, communicative skills, African studies, Gender and development, Research method, Liberal course (Man and His Environment) As a teacher, my inspiration comes from witnessing the transformative power of education. The moment when a student's eyes light up with understanding, the spark of curiosity that ignites a passion for learning, and the sense of accomplishment when they overcome challenges - these are the moments that drive me. I am inspired by the opportunity to make a positive impact on my student's lives, to guide them toward discovering their potential, and to empower them with knowledge and skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Seeing my students grow not only academically, but also as individuals who are curious, critical thinkers, and compassionate members of society, is incredibly fulfilling. Outside of teaching, I have a variety of interests that keep me engaged and energized. One of my passions is photography, which allows me to capture the beauty of the world through my lens. I enjoy exploring different settings, experimenting with composition, and using photography as a creative outlet. I'm also an avid hiker and nature enthusiast. Spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking in the mountains or simply taking a leisurely stroll in a park, helps me connect with nature and clear my mind. It's a great way for me to recharge and find inspiration. Additionally, I have a love for cooking and trying out new recipes. I find the process of preparing meals to be both relaxing and rewarding. It's a wonderful way for me to unwind and share delicious experiences with friends and family. Developed all prep work for the advanced curriculum for years 8, 9, 10, and 11 students. Set, conducted, and supervised semester examinations: evaluated their progress and maintained accurate records of the same. Prepared students for the final examination (Basic Education Certificate Examination) Prepared students for final examinations (West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination).
