A bit about Loren

I have a first class honours degree in Primary Education and several years of experience working in a British international school overseas. I am currently still a full-time teacher in a primary school, therefore my subject and pedagogical knowledge is current and up to date. This is my eighth year teaching and I specialise in the teaching of Phonics, however I also have a passion for teaching the core subjects in KS2. I am an experienced tutor, I started tutoring alongside my full-time job in my first year of teaching. I am passionate about helping all pupils achieve their goals, particularly pupils with special educational needs. I enjoy building strong relationships with my pupils to give them the confidence boost they need to succeed. My teaching style is adapted to each client individually, so that it caters to their needs, interests and targets. I like to break an hour long session down into 3 parts. The first part usually consists of a fun warm up activity where the pupil is called upon to recall/retrieve and demonstrate previously taught skills. The main part of the session is a taught, interactive, guided session that is focused on the specific learning intention for the day. Finally, the last part of the session gives the pupil the opportunity to independently apply the new skills that they have learnt. I like to build a good rapport with each pupil so that I can cater the sessions to their interests to make the learning as fun as possible! I have a first class honours degree in Primary Education. I also have three A-levels in English Language, History and Economics.
