A bit about Grant C

Being a very approachable, friendly person who really appreciates and enjoys interacting with and listening to my students, I am excited by the possibility of teaching you. It's a real joy for me when I'm sharing my knowledge of English and I'm especially delighted when there are those "aha" moments of understanding and insight that my students experience! In addition to teaching in private and state secondary schools in England, my profession, over the course of 30 years has taken me to four countries on three continents where I've had the pleasure of teaching school students from a vast number of nationalities and cultures. My teaching abroad has been in British schools. I have also taught for a few years in South Africa where, apart from teaching English as my main specialism, I learned and taught Zulu as a second language. My specialisms are: English First Language GCSE and iGCSE (Language and Literature) English Second Language (ESL) iGCSE English AS and A-Level Literature and Language IELTS I have thirty years of experience teaching and marking examination scripts from a variety of Awarding Bodies such as Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA), Pearsons Edexcel and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). Because I know what Assessment Objectives (AOs) examiners are looking for in my students' scripts, my lessons are planned in such a way that the goal of achieving those AOs is successfully met - one lesson at a time. Each of my lessons builds on the knowledge and skills learned in the previous lesson. Each of my well-resourced lessons is, therefore, a stepping stone towards achieving that goal. Depending on the homework and other commitments my students have outside of their tutoring time, homework is only set by me if they require it. I started tutoring in 1999 when I taught in Oxford, England, at St Augustine's of Canterbury School.
