A bit about Patricia B

I am an experienced French teacher. I have been teaching for 18 years in British schools. I work with AQA and Edexcel for GCSE and A Level and have helped many students secure Outstanding grades in French to enter Russell Group universities. I am passionate about helping others, and I like to use different teaching styles to suit the needs of my students. I asked questions about your needs, your target grades, your current and your goals. I start by building confidence by revising the basics according to your level. I teach using reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. I specialise in teaching French from Primary to A Level. I am a native French speaker. I prepared students for the French GCSE/IGCSE exam, French A-Level exam and French IB. During the first lesson, we will agree on a vocabulary list you will revise for the next lesson. The second lesson starts with a vocabulary test. We will focus on your weakest skills, and I will use games during the lesson to practise grammar points and videos for listening activities when possible. I like teaching concepts, the history of France and French culture. Learning a new language is to know another way of thinking. I like to promote the love of languages. I like to model, mentor and coach my students according to what they need during the lesson. I will explain the grammar point, and then we will practise using different tools( videos, music, filling gaps, games..). I share strategies for the writing and speaking tasks/exams. I enjoy meeting new people I want to help people meeting their goals. I like the one-to-one teaching as I can provide support as the learning is processing. I have been a tutor since 2013 and I know how to tailor my teaching in order to accommodate the learners needs. My teaching philosophy is “ With the right support and method, everybody can achieve their best”. I focus on making the learning content as relatable to students as possible. I firmly believe that even abstract concepts can be brought closer and more understandable through relevant, concrete examples. I find that when I help students identify with the material, they retain the information for much longer and develop a genuine understanding of it. This also means that they enjoy it more, which has almost invariably led to better grades. My students use the checklists, methods and formulas I am teaching so they can do the exam well. They appreciate the authentical resources we use in my lessons. They enjoyed that I didn't give them the answer but guided them to find them. They then can use these during the exams/ tests. With tremendous success, all the students I privé you taught meet their target grades and most secured at least a grade higher. For example, they achieved a 9 when they thought they could only achieve a 7 on their final exam. Parents emailed to thank me for helping their children succeed. I have a PGCE Secondary. I have QTS and I am a Senior Leader. I mark for AQA. My teachers in France. They cared, and they were great pedagogues. They transfer their passion for teaching. I like movies and staying fit. I like healthy living, mindfulness and reading. I enjoy spending time with my relatives. I use AQA and Edexcel for GCSE and A Level. Since I am in charge of Languages, I am using different exam boards according to the language assessed.
