A bit about Matty B

I am a full time Maths and Business tutor, with 8 years’ experience, having previously worked as an accountant. I have a passion for the subjects that I teach, having completed Economics and Maths degrees, and I am a good communicator. I understand that every student’s needs are different and over the years I have developed several effective techniques for teaching the same topics. I am committed to this role and will always strive to make sure every student has 100% satisfaction with the work I do. Initially, I tend to offer an assessment, during which I can really accurately identify where the student is at in relation to their goals. I can then make a rough plan as to which topics may be best to look at, and what materials would best assist with that. Overall, however, my lessons are very student led. If a student wants to look at a particular topic that has just come to their attention, I am happy to do that, irrespective of any rough plans we may have had. I believe that these lessons are for the student to get whatever they need to out of them, and I tailor my lessons accordingly. I first started tutoring in September 2015, and have been building up my business, and gaining experience, ever since I’ve always loved Maths and Business. I enjoy the precision of it, and I enjoy the vast array of applications that there are from both subjects. I am friendly, calm, relaxed and flexible. I have a multitude of different teaching techniques and I will always cater my lessons to the student. I enjoy the flexibility of being a tutor, I enjoy the subjects I teach, and I enjoy making a difference and helping people who genuinely want to learn and better themselves. It’s a rewarding experience. I am a father of three so a lot of my free time is spent entertaining my young children! I love sport, particularly football, cricket and tennis. I teach all exam boards that are prevalent in the UK.
