A bit about Douglas C

I first started tutoring over 7 years ago whilst completing my Master Of Pharmacy (MPharm) award as a way to keep my knowledge base fresh. I found the experience so rewarding that shortly after graduation I became a Full-Time Professional Tutor. I have launched my own successful tuition business, whilst also becoming a Specialist Tutor in the Sciences (across all exam boards) over the past 5 years. In this time, I have worked with over 200 students achieving positive educational outcomes (80% A* to B) for students at both GCSE and A-level. I absolutely love having the opportunity to pass my Scientific knowledge and experience on towards students, which hopefully enhances their enjoyment of learning the Sciences. I have specialist Tutoring training qualifications after delivering tuition across the country as part of the National Tutoring Programme. I have also completed National Autistic Society training modules, and specialise in assisting students with SEND. I have a Master Of Pharmacy (MPharm) award and a Master Of Education: Leading Learning & Teaching (MEd) award. I also have extensive experience delivering both face to face and online tuition for both small groups, and on a one to one basis. My sessions are always built around the individual student, with sessions being modified to suit their individual learning needs. However they usually follow a clear structure which consists of a teaching/tutorial component, where the key concepts of a topic are explained to the student (including detailed examples). After exploring various examples, there will be questions (sometimes consisting of verbal Q & A/targeted topic specific exam questions) to challenge the student’s understanding. Then we will review these questions together and I will provide detailed feedback to ensure that this area of knowledge has been consolidated, and the student feels confident in this area moving forward. I absolutely love having the opportunity to pass on my Scientific knowledge and experience on to students, hopefully enhancing their enjoyment of learning the Sciences. It is amazing to assist with building subject knowledge in students, whilst also elevating their confidence across a subject. As part of improving a student's confidence in their subject knowledge and assisting students with translating this into exam technique - this usually facilitates them going on to optimise their academic performance. To witness students fulfilling their academic potential and going on to enjoy further studies, or pursuing their ambitions to have a career in the Sciences is certainly a rewarding part of my role as a Specialist Tutor.
