A bit about Rochelle A

Our first lesson will start with a small guided test where we go through a question paper (of the relevant subject) and cover 6-10 topics of the subject to see how well you can answer the questions. Then, the next lesson will start with us doing topic-based revision where I explain a topic and you'll have to explain it back to me, to your best understanding. I have found this teaching method to be very beneficial over the years of my teaching, as I can get a better understanding of what your strengths and weaknesses are. I encourage the use of diagrams and doodling as it helps with concentration and visualisation of the topic being discussed. The consecutive lessons will follow the same plan, with the first 10 mins of the lesson being spent on revision of the topic discussed previously, to find any gaps in your knowledge. We will discuss the topics to go over beforehand, too. My teaching style is very verbal and diagrammatical. I teach by discussing the topics with my students and providing them with real-life examples of when it is used. Then, I assess how much of it my students have grasped, by doing topic questions 15 minutes before the lesson ends. I've seen a positive effect of this approach on my students, as they were able to make their textbook science make sense, which helped them succeed in their exams. I treat my lessons as a safe space for learning and increasing our intellectual abilities by always asking open questions and encouraging my students to ask questions, even if they think the answer is obvious. Another part of my teaching style that gained lots of positive feedback, was creating questions. After we finish a lesson, I give a very small bit of homework where I ask my student to write down three questions about the topic. We will then discuss these questions at the start of the next lesson to give my students twice the amount of revision on the topic we did. I first started tutoring in 2021, during year 13, when my classmates reached out to me for help in A level chemistry, biology and maths. I spent the entire year studying and tutoring them separately, to help them achieve their educational goals - which they did! I also engaged in after-school lessons to aid ks3 students in science. This kickstarted my career in tutoring. I have been tutoring ever since then through companies, and my own networking, giving me around 250+ hours of practice in this career. I have worked with students as young as KS3 up until KS5. I specialise in AQA for KS5 Chemistry and Biology, and in AQA, OCR and Edexcel for KS4 and under. Outside of teaching, I am a full time Biomedical Science BSc student. I love to workout as I want to be a powerlifter one day. I also love playing badminton, playing with my dog, crocheting, and sewing :D I'm currently in my second year of Biomedical Science BSc, with 3 A levels in maths, biology and chemistry (AAA). For my GCSEs I achieved 2 A*s and 5As. I have also been tutoring for the past two years.
