A bit about Rachel W

I have taught GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate courses in English Literature, Language and Creative Writing for the past 25 years in sixth-form colleges and the Open University. I have examined for AQA and Pearson Edexcel for both GCSE and 'A' Level and I have privately tutored students across a range of levels, abilities and syllabuses for over eight years. I have taught Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde and Poetry Anthology at GCSE. I like to plan my lessons around the student's individual needs. This could involve discussing set texts, practising essay writing skills or setting and marking exam tasks or a number of other activities led by the student's specific needs. I am familiar with all the main syllabuses and can provide advice from both a teacher and an examiner's viewpoint regarding the requirements of different exam tasks and how to meet their assessment objectives. I have always had a great love of reading and writing. I have completed a BA (Hons) in English Literature and I have an MA in Creative Writing. I also have a PGCE and have taught at a sixth-form college for over 25 years, teaching 'A' Level Literature, 'A' Level Language and Literature and GCSE English. I have also been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University for the past 21 years, tutoring on a range of literature and creative writing courses. I currently teach Pearson Edexcel English Literature 'A' level and English Combined, Eduqas GCSE and Person Edexcel Functional Skills. In the past, I have also taught AQA and OCR syllabuses. I work at a sixth form college, so all my students are 16-19. However, I have a lot of tutoring experience with students younger than this, from KS2 upwards.
