A bit about Emma G

EFL: I'm TESOL qualified with language school experience. I can help you speak without fear! English for education and business. Physics: Whether you're aiming for Oxbridge, troubleshooting or need to catch up on basics, together we'll build confidence and momentum! (I have Physics MSc, PGCE) Despite having taught hundreds of students, I am still continually astounded by the teenage potential for progress, once on track. The key, of course, is practice. My job is to give you the confidence, insight and motivation to get going. From your individual startpoint, we aim for a positive spiral of increasing confidence and better results. If you're an exam student, we will likely use the specification as an overview. We discuss each concept, then secure a basic mathematical method before progressing from simple to multi-stage problems. Often, it is useful to troubleshoot tricky questions which have already come up at school. This sometimes reveals an underlying gap or misconception, which we can tackle together. Grab your calculator - you might even enjoy it! Teaching experience: 11 years at Woodbridge School (Independent school, HMC) teaching physics and science to ages 12-18, GCSE and A Level. 4 years at King Edward VI School Bury St Edmunds (comprehensive) teaching physics 13-18, GCSE and A Level. 5 years teaching English as a foreign language, mostly in a business context at Berlitz language school in Oslo. AQA and OCR primarily. However, the principles of physics are universal, so by accessing the specification, past papers and other resources, we should make a good job of tackling other boards as well. Cycling, hiking, adventure travel, cross-country skiing, pilates, poetry, science and technology. I chose to study physics purely because I loved it. After my bachelor's degree, I spent several years abroad teaching English. I found teaching rewarding and enjoyed communicating ideas. I decided to combine the two when I returned to England, by taking a PGCE teacher training in physics. BSc Physics (Nottingham University ) MSc Physics (NMBU Norway) PGCE (Cambridge University) QTS TESOL Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
