A bit about Ishika P

As someone who struggled to ask for help when I was studying at school, I wish I had an online tutor to help me as I could study from the comfort from my own home. My GCSE grades were A* - C, with A and A* in English and B in Maths My A level subjects and achievements = B in Psychology, B in Geography and B in English, as well as A in my Extended Project Qualification I have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant, so I have experience with learning methods and communication I specialise in English (both language and literature) as well as Psychology and Geography. I am able to assist with Maths and biology too I would contact the student/ parent before hand asking for a general idea of what wants to be discussed during the tutoring lesson. I believe that pre- planning and organisation is key for an effective lesson, and so I will prepare resources that will be used during the lesson, and if requested can be sent to the pupil afterwards. I first started 2 years ago in February 2021, and have loved the job ever since! I have worked with various age groups and even with special needs children! What I love most about teaching, is helping children understand/ comprehend information they previously struggled to understand. As someone who used to struggle with this, the light bulb moment of understanding something is such a satisfying moment! I believe the key to teaching a lesson is allowing the pupil to communicate confidently what they struggle/ need assistance with. The lessons will be taught step by step and at the pace of the student, as the lesson is focused on their needs. I would start with asking the pupil what they want to discuss, and then work from there. This maybe completely starting from scratch with an idea, or it could be answering/ working out short and quick questions. As someone who is described as calm and caring, I believe making the student feel comfortable is key to learning! I am also bubbly and enthusiastic and so I will always try my best to leave students leaving more confident than when they began the tutoring session.
