A bit about Harry M

Scientist, Cognitive Neurobiologist, and Online Content Creator, also working in Tech/AI 📔👨‍🔬🧠🧍🕸🤖🌍 I have a BSc and MSc 👨🏼‍🎓✅ 10+ years of experience in training people’s brains to learn subjects (especially sciences) using interdisciplinary thinking ⭐🧠 Mental health specialist 🙂👍 ---- ABOUT ME ---- I live to share my passion for learning new knowledge! I have 10+ years of experience in scientific research and teaching. I helped hundreds of students achieve the grades they needed to enrol on university programmes. ---- MY EDUCATIONAL/ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS ---- • I obtained 10 A* 2 A for GCSEs [2005-2007]. After that, I attained the equivalent of at least 3 A* 2 A while doing A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate [2007-2010]; my main subjects were Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Psychology, alongside other humanities subjects. • I did my BSc in Biomedical Sciences (anatomy & physiology of organ systems; molecular biochemistry) at University College London [2013-2016] (grade: 2:1). • I pursued a MSc in Neuroscience (clinical, cognitive-behavioural, neuroimaging, computational) at King’s College London [2018-2020] (grade: Distinction). • Moreover, I self-studied with online courses [2016-2021], in topics ranging from engineering & computer programming, to business management & educational administration. I also passed my car driving exams [2017]. On top of that, I am a British Neuroscience Association member [2017-present]. ---- MY WORK EXPERIENCE ---- During 2006-2018, I mentored at schools in England, I was a sports & martial arts instructor, I contributed to research & clinical institutions, and I worked for various other organisations. In more recent years, I was a scientific content producer/ communicator, adviser, and research project contributor for King’s College London [2018-2024] and Multidisciplinary Neuroscientific Technologies [2017-2024]. I tutored students (e.g., teenagers and young adults), led tours of facilities, performed lab demonstrations, liaised with educational institutions in London, and delivered hundreds of presentations. I taught one-to-one, and up to large groups of 150+ individuals. I also carried out data collection & analyses, wrote reports/ articles, coded & developed apps, and built websites. Much of this involved working on the integration of medical, neural, and psychometric fields, and artificial intelligence. All that involved me producing educational videos (e.g., on YouTube) and answering enquiries. Overall, my published content has had international outreach and impact, and very positive reviews. ---- SUBJECTS ---- I taught content within the Physical, Biological, and Sociological sciences, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches. • I specialised in Biosciences (human & animal systems), from the chemical/molecular level, to networks of cells, to organ systems and organisms, to ecosystems/populations. • I especially investigated Medicine-related themes. • I covered structural (anatomical) and functional (physiological) aspects, together with evolutionary and developmental perspectives. • All this included Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, as well as underlying methodologies. • I covered mathematical/statistical/quantitative domains. • I also delved into the philosophical and socio-political/legal/economic contexts of science & technology. ---- AGE GROUPS / QUALIFICATIONS ---- Overall, I helped all ages from children to elderly adults, but I have expertise with secondary school students and undergraduates. I can assist with Key Stage 3 material, GCSEs, A-Levels, and Foundation/Bachelor’s certificates & degrees, and the equivalent of all these. Furthermore, I can help you develop writing skills (e.g., for exams, university applications, and careers). ---- LANGUAGES ---- I can communicate in both English and French (full native fluency). I love languages; I previously studied [mainly during 2005-2013] many others, including Japanese. ---- MY INNOVATIONS IN TEACHING ---- I previously used my background in cognitive neurobiology and computing to optimise students’ learning experiences and outcomes. I will do that with you as well: • I will use interdisciplinarity to empower you to interconnect concepts across complex subjects, and make those relevant to your interests. • I will use intellectually-immersive advanced computational tools, such as visual diagrams personalised to you, e-tests with real-time feedback, A.I.-driven programs, graduate-level scientific software, interactive data analytics, and 2D/3D digital models. • I will share research-backed physical/mental health tips, memory aids, and meta-cognitive neuro-feedback strategies, to help you re-program your brain to be more emotionally-engaged and learn more efficiently. Additionally, I support people from a range of personality types, neuropsychiatric profiles and disabilities. ---- OTHER BENEFITS FROM ME ---- With me, you have a long-term connection for life, as I would love to keep in touch with you to see how your future studies/ career is progressing. I also have connections with academic professionals, so I have up-to-date insider knowledge on examiners, admissions tutors, and recruiters, and what they are looking for. ---- MY AVAILABILITY / COMMUNICATIONS / BOOKINGS ---- For online communications and meetings, I am available 7 days a week, every day of the year (including holidays) : ➜ Sherpa Messages → If you have any questions, or to provide me with information/files. I'm usually available from 8am to 8pm. If a response is required, I will respond as soon as I can, depending on the query. Please ignore the "[Replies within ... ]" tag at the top of this webpage, my response time can range from minutes to hours to days. ➜ Introduction Meeting (free) → I may not be available at particular dates/ times because of other work commitments. ➜ Lesson (paid) → I can normally do ~10h00 to ~19h30 (7.30pm), but it may be possible to do earlier and later times. I would usually need a notice period in advance to prepare for certain sessions (from at least a few days up to about 2 weeks potentially); this will depend on whether you are an existing or new student, and if we cover sub-topics I am already familiar with or not. ➜ To book: Just select an available time slot. The selectable time shown is the start time. ➜ My Availability: It constantly changes, so do check my timetable regularly for time slots that open up. To view my calendar timetable for Lessons, click on "[Book a Session/Lesson]", choose any subject and any type of lesson, then it will come up with my available times. If you have other preferred days/times that do not show up on my calendar schedule, message me anyway and I will try my best to see whether or not I can fit you in. ➜ Lesson Structure and Planning: We will go through many exercises together using the resources I uploaded in the e-classroom. At the end, I will get a bit of feedback from you as to what you thought about the lesson. Before the lesson, I will be asking you in advance a few questions on exactly what you require from me, so that I can help you most effectively. I will also let you know what I can and cannot help you with. ➜ Fees: The '£23/hour' displayed is an average minimum standard fee. The price would vary (approx. £21-£39 per hour) based on the level of your qualification, the subject, and the type & time frame of your demands. Here is a list of Subjects/Levels I have previously had available for bookings on Sherpa. This can be with any exam board (AQA, Pearson, OCR, etc.). The green tick symbol and the "Teaches" table further down this page indicate what I am currently available for. The blue square ('pause button') indicate subjects I am not currently available for anymore, but that I may continue to be available for at some point in the future. ✔️ Science Primary ✔️ Science Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ Science KS3 ✔️ Combined Science GCSE ⏸️ Applied Science BTEC ✔️ Biology KS3 ✔️ Biology GCSE ✔️ Biology A-Level ✔️ Biology IB ✔️ Human Biology GCSE ✔️ Human Biology A-Level ✔️ Medicine A-Level ✔️ Physical Education GCSE ✔️ Physical Education A-Level ✔️ Physical Education BTEC ✔️ Health & Social Care BTEC ✔️ Medicine Degree ✔️ Biology Degree ✔️ Psychology Degree ⏸️ Biochemistry Degree ⏸️ Pharmacology Degree ✔️ Psychology GCSE ✔️ Psychology A-Level ✔️ Psychology IB ✔️ Revision Skills ✔️ Essay Writing ✔️ Exam Technique ✔️ Personal Statements - General ✔️ UCAS Preparation ✔️ Oxbridge Preparation ✔️ EPQ ✔️ Medical School Preparation - MSP ✔️ UCAT ✔️ Chemistry KS3 ✔️ Chemistry GCSE ⏸️ Chemistry A-Level ⏸️ Chemistry IB ✔️ Physics KS3 ✔️ Physics GCSE ⏸️ Physics A-Level ⏸️ Physics IB ⏸️ Electronics GCSE ✔️ Computing KS2 ✔️ Computing KS3 ✔️ Computing GCSE ⏸️ Computing A-Level ⏸️ Computing IB ✔️ Programming KS2 ✔️ Programming KS3 ✔️ Programming GCSE ⏸️ Programming A-Level ⏸️ Programming IB ✔️ Programming Python ✔️ Programming Web Design ✔️ ICT KS2 ✔️ ICT KS3 ✔️ ICT GCSE ⏸️ ICT A-Level ⏸️ ICT IB ✔️ 11+ 11+ ✔️ Maths Primary ✔️ English Primary ✔️ English Literature Primary ✔️ Maths Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ Maths KS3 ✔️ Maths GCSE ⏸️ Further Maths GCSE ⏸️ Maths A-Level ⏸️ Maths IB ✔️ English as a Foreign Language EFL - EFL ✔️ English Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ English KS3 ✔️ English Literature KS3 ✔️ English GCSE ✔️ English Language GCSE ✔️ English Literature GCSE ⏸️ English A-Level ⏸️ English IB ✔️ Functional Skills - Level 2 ✔️ French - General ✔️ French Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ French GCSE ⏸️ French A-Level ✔️ Business Studies GCSE ✔️ Economics GCSE ⏸️ Economics A-Level ⏸️ Accounting GCSE ✔️ Design and Technology GCSE ✔️ Graphic Design KS3 ✔️ Media Studies GCSE ✔️ Geography Primary ✔️ Geography Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ Geography KS3 ✔️ Geography GCSE ✔️ Sociology GCSE ⏸️ Sociology A-Level ⏸️ Sociology IB ✔️ Politics GCSE ⏸️ Law GCSE ⏸️ Criminology A-Level ⏸️ Criminology BTEC ✔️ History Primary ✔️ History Common Entrance (13+) ✔️ History KS3 ⏸️ Philosophy A-Level
