A bit about Mia K

Before lessons start, I usually have a short free meeting with the student to determine what level they are working at, specific areas they struggle with, and which learning styles they prefer. After this, a typical 1 hour lesson looks like: - First 5 mins -> introduction to lesson - Next 25 mins -> teaching the specific topic to student; discussion; they can ask questions any time - Next 10 min -> allowing the student to put what they learned into practice - Next 10 mins -> I will go over the student's work, mark & provide feedback, then we can discuss what they have learned, improved on -> Final 5-10 mins -> closing the lesson, consolidating student's learning, discussing what we will focus on in next lesson/future lessons Hi, I'm Mia! I graduated from the University of St Andrews with a first-class degree in English last year, and want to help students reach their full potential - by finding out which learning styles work best for each individual. English is a subject that I love as a reader and professional writer with 3+ years of experience; and I will teach you that analysing poetry, understanding grammar, and writing essays is not as daunting as it appears. With the right techniques, it can be easy and (yes) enjoyable to prepare for assessments and exams. I teach English Language, English Literature, and English as a Second Language. I not only love getting to read books for a living, and teaching my favourite subject, but I also love being able to help students with something they struggle with, whether it's a topic they have always found difficult, or just one that requires a push of confidence. I love the moment when things *click* for a student.
