A bit about Dan B

I enjoy learning. I have a degree in English Literature, another in Law, a Masters in Writing and an MBA. Also, I am a lead teacher for an international teaching programme that has been adopted in schools across the globe. Edexcel and AQA GCSE English Language and Literature, Pearson IGCSE English Language and Literature, OCR and Eduqas A-Level English Literature, IB (Diploma) English Language & Literature at both Higher and Standard levels. English Speaking Board (ESB) Grade 8. Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Say hello and remind ourselves of what has been covered, what has been learnt and, importantly, what has been forgotten. Watch, read, listen to something new. Discuss. Work out what is important and find out why. Maybe write. Often discuss. Always think. Then reflect: what needs to be learned for next time? What needs practising? What should never be forgotten? That moment when studying Shakespeare when Juliet wakes up and you see the realisation in students' eyes that there's nothing they can do. The moment a student knows that their pen can move others to tears. The moment when a lesson that needs to be tedious becomes a tangent that wanders off into a thought-provoking and powerful place. It has to work for you. I have always loved reading but spend hours commuting so I listen to audio books every day. This works for me. If you doodle as you listen, or prefer to build mind maps, to type lists or create flashcards, if they help you to learn, then that is good (but we have to remember that there are examinations to practise and essays to write so there comes a time to focus, rehearse and reflect...)
