A bit about Pauline W

I started tutoring in 2008 and have tutored over 10,000 hours and 150 primary and secondary students throughout my tutoring career to achieve their academic goals; my favourite subject is English. Even at school, I loved writing and I’m also a published author. I've worked in the private sector as well as in the education sector. I tutor my students- KS2 and KS3- to use grammar and punctuation to elevate their writing and well as language features like personification, similes and metaphors to make their story more exciting and interesting. I also teach students to infer comprehension text to develop their in-depth understanding. Tutoring in maths, I focus on those challenging topics showing the student how different topics connect with each other, for example calculating the area of a shape with algebra. I have been tutoring for well over a decade - both primary and secondary pupils - my longest time tutoring a student has been 9 years. I find it a privilege to work with the next generation and have the opportunity to nurture their minds and develop them not just on an academic level, but to think, take control of their education and become confident problem solvers. By this I mean they learn skills to decipher questions, break them down and answer them. How do I do it? I tutor my students using online interactive, engaging and fun sessions.
