A bit about Klara G

I make all of my lessons personal to each student's needs. So the way that they play out will vary. Nevertheless, I will consistently do check-ins with my students at the beginning and end of each lesson, where we review what was covered in the previous lesson as well as the one that has just finished, For me, tutoring is all about helping students to gain confidence in their academic abilities. So my favourite thing about being a tutor is when students start believing in themselves. Every language technique they fully comprehend, piece of creative writing they produce or speech they feel more comfortable delivering in class are just some examples of what these wins can be. All my lessons are very interactive! I know from personal experience that being spoken at is not always the best way for students to learn. So I implement a lot of activities and quizzes, so that students are able to engage with the material themselves. I also encourage the students to talk about their work, be it through discussing an essay plan together or asking students about their opinions on the texts they're studying. The interactive element of my lessons can seem initially daunting but since it's specific to each student's needs, many of my students end up really enjoying it! Not to mention appreciating it - it really does speed up the learning process. I am very energetic. My drama school training has taught me how to channel this energy into effectively conveying stories. It has made me resourceful - so my teaching style varies based on the text and which themes I am trying to convey. Students have told me that they are often inspired and encouraged by my energetic approach and commitment to each lesson. Teaching students how to write effectively about texts. I have always loved reading and engaging with stories. But I know students might not feel the same way. Some can feel quite daunted by how to approach texts in the first place. So the challenge for me is to convey the broad meanings of the texts and materials we study whilst also being concise and efficient in how they write about them. Once students understand the importance of essay structures, the prospect of achieving high grades becomes much more attainable for them. This is really rewarding to see and often means that the students start to feel more comfortable engaging with, and interpreting, the stories and materials too.
