A bit about Sarah

Hi! I'm a third-year medical student and have tutored GCSEs and A-Levels for over four years. Having sat the new specification exams, I am well-versed in the new style of questions and how best to achieve the highest marks. I'm happy to provide regular lessons, one-offs, crash courses, or mark exam papers. I started tutoring whilst I was doing my A-levels, helping GCSE maths resit students. In my second year of A-levels, I tutored the first-year students. Once I went to university, I started tutoring both GCSE and A-Levels, with some KS3 and entrance exam work as well. I have recently taught some foundation-entry chemistry to university students, and advanced human biology to physiotherapists. My students love that I don't set any expectations when we're doing exam questions - they can be completely honest if they don't know something! They also appreciate explanations around marks they're missing and how their answers compare to model answers. My lessons usually begin with a quick catch-up - we discuss how school is, any topics they may be struggling with, and any plans they have for the rest of the week. Then, we will work through exam questions based on the topic requested before the lesson. I follow the traditional medical teaching style: see one, do one, teach one. This ensures the student fully understands how the exam questions work, and if they fail at a step, we return to the first stage. Near the end of the lesson, we might try some timed exam questions to simulate an exam environment. At the end of the lesson, we will discuss their confidence in the topic studied, their revision plans, and topics the next lesson will involve. Anywhere from Y7 to Y13. I can teach OCR, AQA, and some subjects for Edexcel (including iGCSE). I've recently started tutoring foundation-degree chemistry and degree-level human biology! I specialise in GCSE Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Geography, with AS-Level tutoring upon request. I regularly use my scientific knowledge whilst doing hospital-based placements. I follow traditional medical teaching: see one, do one, teach one. This ensures the student has a full understanding of the topic and exam questions surrounding it. If we fail at one step, we'll return back to the first and repeat until knowledge is concrete.
