A bit about Sobaan M

My lessons include a lot of discussion and dialogue, with lots of writing practice and a chance to receive in-depth, personalised feedback. I draw on the knowledge I have gained from my degree in Education and Psychology. I will also set up a shared Google Docs document where all of our work will be saved so that we have a record. I only teach GCSE English Literature and Language for the AQA exam board. For English Literature, I can only help with the following AQA texts: Macbeth, An Inspector Calls, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Love and Relationships poetry. During our first meeting, we will discuss your goals and how I can help you achieve them. We'll discuss your current experience with English as a subject, including your strengths, challenges, current grades, and goals. Where possible, I will ask to see a sample of your work. Once I have a picture of your strengths and weaknesses, I will plan our lessons around these. Typically, we might focus on practising exam questions or consolidating knowledge of a text. Lessons usually include dialogue and discussion for the first half of the lesson, followed by written work, and then feedback at the end of the lesson. I have been tutoring GCSE English online for over two years now and I am so pleased to say that all of my students in the 2022-2023 academic year either achieved or surpassed their target grades. I studied 11 GCSEs, receiving grades 7 to 9 across the board, and grades 9 and 8 in English Literature and Language, respectively. I received A*A*A*A in my A-levels, with an A* in English Literature. I am currently in my final year of my undergraduate degree in Education and Psychology at the University of Cambridge. Dialogue forms the foundation of my tutoring. New ideas can only emerge through dialogue and discussion. In my lessons, I aim to create an environment where you are comfortable talking through and discussing all the ideas that come through your mind - big or small. There's no wrong answer in my lessons!
