A bit about Muna A

I started teaching science in 2020 and have been a tutor for over 5 years. My journey in education has been both rewarding and fulfilling. In my role as a science teacher, I've had the opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of curious minds. Sharing my passion for science and helping students explore the wonders of the natural world has been a truly enriching experience. In my years as a tutor, I've worked with students one-on-one, providing personalised support to help them excel in their studies. This dual experience has allowed me to refine my teaching techniques and adapt to the unique needs of each student. I teach all three science divisions from KS3 to GCSE for AQA, Pearson Edexcel, and OCR exam boards. At A levels, I specialize in chemistry and offer tuition for the AQA exam board exclusively. My goal is to help all of my students achieve academic success by creating a deep grasp of the subject matter, whether I'm teaching young learners the basics of science or guiding A-level students through the complexities of chemistry. I start all my lessons with a short 3-4 questions based on students prior knowledge.   This is to make sure that students remember what they already know.  After that, I briefly review the lesson objective. I then begin introducing new information sequentially. Following that, students have a quick quiz and a group task to complete. Afterwards, I assign pupils to complete independent task to aid in the consolidation of their knowledge.  Approximately five years ago, I started my tutoring career while attending the university. Working with my pupils and helping them meet their academic objectives gave me a sense of fulfillment. What I love most about teaching science to my students is that I ignite curiosity and passion in my students. I enjoy answering all of their big and small questions. Sometimes I learn from their curiosity. I enjoy witnessing when a student gets a new concept and can explain it in their own words.   I have experience teaching and tutoring chemistry at the A level. I have also taught chemistry, biology, and physics to students in grades KS3 and KS4 for OCR, AQA, and Edexcel. My teaching style is that of a facilitator, and I firmly believe in empowering my students to take charge of their own learning journey. As a facilitator, my role is to guide and support, creating an environment where students actively engage with the subject matter. I encourage questions and discussions after I teach new information. I achieve this by including think-pair-share tasks that encourage students to collaborate. This approach not only promotes critical thinking but also nurtures a sense of independence and self-motivation. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family by trying new cuisine and experiences. After returning from a volunteering trip abroad and witnessing the educational disparities and lack of support, I was inspired to work with students. I decided to help young pupils unlock their potential by guiding their learning journey and instilling in them the determination to persevere. Bolton University, 2023 - PGCE ( Post graduate in education) TRA ( Teacher Regulation Agency), 2023 - QTS ( Qualified teacher status) TES institution, 2022 - Subject knowledge enhancement in Physics TES institution, 2020 to 2021 - Subject knowledge enhancement in Biology Kingston University London, 2016 to 2019 - Degree – pharmacology BSC:2.2 My favorite part of being a tutor is working with students one-on-one and personalizing each session to their specific educational needs to help them reach their goals. This is not always possible in a classroom because there are lots of students and there is little time. Whereas when I tutor, I witness students progress faster because the lesson is tailored to their specific needs. When I tutor, I get to know my students strengths and areas for development. This helps me plan carefully tailored sessions that target the gaps in students knowledge. My teaching philosophy Is to ensure that each student is unique, learns differently, and has different strengths and areas for improvement. I believe no two students are the same, and each one requires a different teaching approach and explanation. So I try to get to know my students and then tailor my lessons to each student's specific educational needs. I tend to use stories and real-life examples to explain difficult scientific concepts to students. They enjoy this and tend to remember it longer. Lately, I've noticed a significant transformation in one of my year 10 students who initially exhibited disruptive behavior at the beginning of the academic year. This student's progress has alleviated my earlier concerns, as they have now emerged as one of the top-performing individuals in the class. Witnessing students undergo such positive changes and choose to focus on their learning has been one of the greatest successes thus far.
