A bit about Yousuf M

I am currently working in DevOps as an engineer. I have studied maths throughout GCSE and A Level, and been awarded high grades. I have experience with tutoring GCSE level students- whilst studying for my A Levels. My students showed quick progression with one student moving from a grade 5 to a grade 8 within a matter of months. I specialise in teaching GCSE Level Mathematics. I am familiar with a wide range of exam boards including, but not limited to: Edexcel, AQA and OCR. My track record is backed up by my A Level in Mathematics, as well as the Mathematics required in my day to day job. I also achieved high grades in GCSE Physics and Chemistry. Firstly, I start with a knowledge test to see which level the student is currently at. I then use the results of the test to focus and target key revision areas. I plan the lessons by preparing flash cards, notes and exam questions within each lesson. The exam questions give me a good indication of how much the student has learnt throughout the lesson, and if more revision is required on the topic. I first started tutoring during the first year of my A Levels (2019). Since then I have had multiple students with repeat lessons. I started tutoring as when I was studying, I couldn’t find a tutor that really understood what it was like to study under the new specification. I created a solution to help students achieve better grades in a short amount of time. I love demystifying maths, turning complexity into clarity. Witnessing the 'aha' moments and instilling confidence in students as they conquer mathematical challenges is the most rewarding aspect of teaching. It's the joy of seeing them embrace and excel in a subject they once found daunting. My teaching style is student-centric and interactive. I foster a collaborative learning environment, tailoring lessons to individual needs. By combining clear explanations with practical examples, I aim to make complex concepts accessible. Encouraging questions and engaging discussions, I empower students to actively participate in their learning journey. My favorite aspect of tutoring is witnessing the transformation in students. Seeing them grasp challenging concepts, gain confidence, and achieve academic success brings immense fulfillment. It's the joy of playing a key role in their educational journey and contributing to their growth and future success. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. I believe in adapting to diverse learning styles, encouraging active participation, and cultivating a passion for continuous learning. By providing personalized guidance, nurturing critical thinking, and promoting collaboration, I aim to empower students to excel academically and develop skills for a lifetime of learning. Students appreciate my teaching style for its dynamic nature. I challenge them to think critically, pushing beyond comfort zones. The encouragement to embrace challenges fosters a sense of accomplishment, instilling both confidence and a love for tackling complex concepts. Witnessing their growth and newfound appreciation for overcoming challenges is a rewarding aspect of our journey together. My greatest teaching success involves guiding a student from grade 5 to grade 8 within a short timeframe. Through personalized lessons, targeted support, and fostering a growth mindset, the student not only surpassed expectations but also developed a newfound enthusiasm for the subject. It's a testament to the transformative power of tailored education and the potential for remarkable academic progress. He went from ‘hating’ maths to looking forward to studying it. I have qualifications in GCSE and A Level Mathematics. My inspiration to become a teacher stems from my own experience as a student. I lacked educators who understood my preferred learning style and struggled to stay engaged. This motivated me to become the teacher I wished for—creating an interactive, student-centric environment that fosters engagement and understanding. I aim to fill the gap I once felt, ensuring every student receives personalized, effective education. Outside teaching, I thrive on learning new things, immersing myself in the world of cars, capturing moments through photography, and exploring the art of baking. These diverse interests fuel my creativity, provide balance, and contribute to my continuous personal and professional growth. I specialize in teaching Year 9, 10, and 11 students, covering AQA, Edexcel, and OCR exam boards. My expertise lies in providing comprehensive support and guidance tailored to the unique requirements of these year groups and examination boards.
