A bit about Nick H

AQA physics GCSE & A level but I have taught many different schemes over a long career - I was an examiner for OCR Advancing Physics for many years. All exam boards have slightly different nuances which are important to be aware of, but all are great for connecting with how the subject works. I am still madly in love with physics and still spend much of any free time reading about it, calculating with it and following the latest ideas in it. As a tutor, it is a privilege to be able to pass on some of what I love about the subject while helping students get to grips with some of its inner workings. My degree was BSc(Hons) Astrophysics and, after a range of employment, I obtained a PGCE and started teaching 35 years ago. I have taught all abilities from yr7 to yr13, been head of department and pastoral leader and have loved it! To learn anything well it is vital to know exactly what you will be learning, how it connects with what you already know and how you can demonstrate that you have learned it. My sessions will have precise outcomes (you will guide what these are depending on where you are in your learning journey), some activities which will help you make the connections necessary, some practice tasks to demonstrate some progress and, usually, how the things you have learned matter in the real world.
