A bit about Martin S

I have two Masters' degrees; one in English and another in Music. I've taught both subjects since 2011. I studied maths and physics for 2 years at university before changing direction, so I know that education isn't always a straight line. I'm also qualified in Counselling and have lots of experience working with learners facing additional challenges outside of their studies. Sometimes we need someone that sees us as ourselves, our challenges and has the experience of helping students overcome those hurdles. My favourite things about being a tutor is seeing students achieve their targets. Good education is about more than passing an exam. Therefore, I take great satisfaction in seeing former students go on and achieve well in their life goals. Being a small part of that journey is exciting. My teaching style adapts with each learner, though there are some fundamentals I keep to. First, make content accessible to each learner. Second, build understanding. Third, connect this new knowledge to our targets such as passing an exam or preparing for a new course. Finally, explore where this knowledge is useful in everyday life.
