A bit about Chloe G

Hi there! My name's Chloe and I'm a Native British English teacher and writer. I gained a CELTA certification in teaching English as a second language in 2018 and have been teaching ever since. I love my job because I passionately enjoy helping students improve their confidence and language skills. I speak two other languages (Spanish and Portuguese) so I also understand the language-learning process from the student's perspective. I've got over 6 years of teaching experience online and in the classroom and have taught a range of age groups from young children to adults. My method begins with assessing each new student's specific goals and learning style, before designing a curriculum that suits each person. I'm a kind and patient person, I aim for my classes to be a safe space with no fear of 'failure' but with clear improvement and increased fluency each time. Feel free to get in touch with any questions! It'll be great to meet you... My specialisms are conversational English, business English, exam preparation and phonetics. In Spain I was a private tutor preparing students for their Cambridge English exams and when I taught Chinese students online I tutored them through their IELTS. My lesson plans depend a lot of my student's level, personal goals and learning style. A typical first lesson will involve a chat to determine each student's specific needs, then progress to a more structured approach. This can include worksheets, mock interviews, phonetics lessons, comprehension etc. My lessons are personally designed for each student. in 2017 I know from my own experience that learning a language can open many doors. Be this for a new job, making friends or just feeling at home in a new country. I love to be able to help my students achieve their language-learning goals and feel real progression as they gain confidence and fluency. My teaching style responds to my student's needs - for example, if I have a student who is a visual learner, we'll work with lots of visual prompts and images. I'd also find ways for them to mentally visualise new vocabulary and grammar. If I have a new student who is predominantly an audio learner, we'd employ mnemonics and other audio-based learning materials. My lessons will always be full immersion, as I feel that talking with native speakers is a very effective way to learn a new language, regardless of your level. I'm a creative and efficient teacher who can adapt to my student's specific goals. Seeing my students gain fluency, confidence and new skills in their English-learning journey. I also love to hear the progress that my students make outside of the classroom, for example when they get that new job that needed them to have English fluency, or when they finally feel comfortable chatting with English speakers in a group setting. It's very encouraging! Students learn more in a safe space. Whilst I will always offer corrections when appropriate, I like to focus on creating a calm environment where they feel safe to experiment and make mistakes - as that's how we learn! It's effective and they reach their goals! They notice improvement over time and apply what they learn in our lessons to real-world situations such as job interviews, exams or just chatting with people in their day-to-day lives. When I worked in a school for young learners and some of my students went from speaking no English to having confident conversations in it. I have a CELTA qualification (now known as Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Learning Spanish gave me a new lease of life and so much confidence. When I saw how much I enjoyed learning a language and how it opened me up to many new experiences and opportunities, I realised that I wanted to offer this experience to other people. I'm a writer and an artist when I'm not teaching. I do freelance journalism and travel writing which I love because it involves doing a lot of research and finding new stories. I also adore painting and sometimes exhibit my work in galleries. IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC and exams within the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) to achieve official levels ( pre A1, A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.)
