A bit about Sky Steele

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile. My name is Sky, I am 26 years old and I have a degree in Working with Children Young People and Families. I have also worked in schools for over two years as a Teaching Assistant with Special Educational Needs Children who range from the age of 11-16. I help encourage students to push themselves to the best of their ability during lesson times to get the very best out of them. I work across all curriculum subjects such as Maths, Science, English, Geography History and more however I specialise in KS3 English and GCSE English. I mainly specialise in both English Language and Literature. During my own school experience these were the subjects I found most useful and interesting. I always found both these subjects became very natural to me which encouraged me to progress my development in them even more. During my second year of university I volunteered at a secondary school were I offered one to one tutoring to young people to help improve their literacy skills. This is something I throughly enjoyed and I knew longer time I would want to progress this as a career to continue helping other students which is why now I think would be the right time to help tutor students to get the best out of their English studies. I also teach small groups to students in the Dyslexia Centre Department that I work in within the school and use several resources to break down work that the students might be finding challenging at that particular time. What I love most about teaching English is that there is no right or wrong answer as long as you have the evidence to back up your point that you are making. With English Literature especially you can really get lost in a piece of work you can dig deep into the meaning of a particular word, phrase or poem and annotate as you wish.
