A bit about Matthew T

***From 17th June I am able to take on new tutees for exams in 2025*** I am unable to offer any sessions to pupils taking exams in 2024 (I am already fully booked) I have been a science teacher for the past 12 years obtaining excellent results. I have also been online tutoring for the past few years with excellent reviews on different platforms. I have recently joined Sherpa as I have heard very good reviews about their platform. I tutor each evening from 7.30 - 8.30pm and 8.30-9.30pm. I often fill all of these spaces. I have two young children (4 and 1) and therefore only tutor when they are asleep. Science - KS3 and GCSE. Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I know all of the exam boards well and I am an exam marker for AQA. My lessons start with a recap assessing prior knowledge, followed by clear modelling and explanation. I then check for understanding before trying some past paper questions together. I can set additional questions/homework as follow up - but that is down to each student. I do prefer if students ask for a topic ahead of time but I am able to adapt quickly to all topics if something comes up during the lesson. I started tutoring 4 years ago on tutor hunt and tutorful where you can see my previous excellent reviews (30+ 5 Star reviews). I have now recently joined Sherpa as well where I have had excellent reviews from my tutees on here. I love all of the sciences and making clear links between the various topics to show how all of science is connected. I am clear, responsive and can adapt quickly to any misconceptions that arise. I encourage as many questions as possible. It is the students time and they can dictate what we work on and how. I will always ensure knowledge is secure and gradually increase the difficulty to grade 9 questions. I like to see the clear impact of the tuition. Many students go onto achieve top grades. Each student is different and has different aims. I use my experience to show students the best way of achieving these. Assess prior knowledge, fill the gaps with clear explanations and modeling, check for understanding and then apply to past paper questions. I am clear and precise with my answers. I am an exam board marker so I know the clear phrases that need to be included within answers in order to get the marks. I have my own schools self made booklets which clearly break down the course into the different topics. Every success is different in its own way. Each student has different aims and ability levels. It is about achieving the best result you can. 1st class honours degree. Qualified teacher status and 10 years of experience. I had some great teachers and have always loved science. Science can open many doors for students so I enjoy helping them achieve their best grades and hearing what they go on to do with them. Football, Reading and puzzles. I have most experience with AQA and edexcel - but know the content well across all exam boards.
