A bit about Roshni I

Hey, I’m Roshni and I'm a huge fan of science which is why I chose to tutor with Sherpa to help students like myself. I enjoyed 'most' of my subjects at school and I understand it can be hard to grasp some concepts of Science whether that be the difficult maths of Chemistry or the incredibly long and complex content of Biology. I achieved all A's and A*'s for my GCSE's and have many tips and advice to share. I've endured the emotional rollercoaster of having to balance all my exams with a million other things and have learnt a lot, I want to be able to help you with your journey to doing the best you can. I first started tutoring during my A Level studies as I supported my classmates with revision and explaining information from a new perspective. I have further worked with students who require readers and scribes due to learning difficulties. Finally, I have also gained experience from helping student with autism who each have individual preferences in teaching styles. Some students prefer information being provided for them to make notes, some enjoy interactive lessons with quizzes and videos, and others find revision flashcards throughout the lesson effective for memory based learning. All students find practicing exam questions and technique helpful as these are what they are tested on both in class and in their final exams. My teaching style can vary from student to student depending on their preferences of what works for them. I specifically like to work on building a good foundation on understanding content and information, testing that knowledge and then examining their independent work via exam questions. I ensure to take time and build up confidence for my students in their weaker topics before moving on. I offer a variety of different independent learning resources such as: YouTube videos, textbooks, informational platforms, practice exam questions and papers, etc. sometimes students request homework so they are able to maintain a routine and complete work which is effective for their learning and I am also able to provide support in this area. I have been successful in helping a student move up from a grade for 4 in Science to achieving grades 7's and 8's, we worked on content and used pictures and colour coded information to ensure it was easier to understand. once we completed the content for a topic we spent a while practicing exam questions for that specific topic, if there were any areas in which they found weak we went back to the content and tried different ways and resources to help learn. I helped them to produce independent learning material so even when we weren't tutoring they had enough help and information to revise and practice.
