A bit about Aidan P

After completing my A-Levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry (where I received three A grades) I started my undergraduate degree in Biology. I graduated with First Class Hons and was accepted into a Bioinformatics Masters course at the University of Bristol. This Masters degree developed my maths skills much further than A-Levels, specifically in statistics, and I graduated with a Distinction grade. Overall, I am a confident Biologist and Mathematician. Learning isn’t meant to be scary - I believe that some students who struggle in classrooms have just as much potential as the highest achievers in their class if given the correct environment to work in, and tutoring in small groups or individually is often a great way to achieve this. I promote an environment where questions are key and my tutees have the freedom to interrogate me to further their understanding. Learning is meant to be fun and it's okay to not know everything - that's why having a curious mind is such a great asset. I have a love for Maths and Science that I want to share with other enthusiastic minds. I stumbled into tutoring at the age of 17 and enjoyed it from day one, building a strong professional relationship with student and parent aiming for specific academic goals. I enjoy explaining topics from the most basic level right up to complicated concepts which trip up the most confident students. Everyone should have the opportunity to feel good about their academics. I specialise in evolutionary biology, but have foundations in maths, statistics, computation/programming and molecular genetics. That said, in tutoring my interests are much more varied! I love to teach algebra, as this is a difficult topic to catch up on if a student doesn't understand straight away and is often the foundation of a lot of GCSE maths. My love for biology will not be outdone however, and some of my favourite areas include molecular genetics, DNA and cellular processes. Please, feel free to bring any topics outside of these ones to a session - there's nothing better than a student bringing topics they find interesting too.
