A bit about Uğur E

Mathematics tutor and teacher since November 2019 MSc. in Mathematics from University of Sussex, Brighton, continuing BSc. in Mathematics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, January 2023 After talking about a topic, I ask the student to explain the topic to me by their words. Then I come up with questions that can come up to anybody's mind all the way from the very basics to further complicated relatable topics. Afterwards, I give out couple of questions for the student to solve. If we have time, we go over the questions very quickly and check the answers. At the start of the second year of my Bachelor's in Mathematics, around October 2019. I was always told that I was a very special being with a mind not many people have, but I hate the idea that people cannot see the world through my goggles as well. Also, when I gain a new insight about seemingly unrelated things or very easy explanations of very complex things, I get a sense of awe and joy that's impossible to express in words. This is also the reason I do a masters in Mathematics. When all of these things happen for another person, the same emotions awaken in me as well. I teach my students in a way that elevates them from memorizing things. What most people try is just memorizing whatever formula is needed to solve that specific type of problems. What I teach is the vision of the parts and their relations, which after obtained allows the student to create the formula themselves. This is usually the fundamental mission of the first year of college, for university lecturers of the mathematics department. I bring my students the intelligence and analysis skills needed so that they can rely on themselves when urgency comes. I don't specialize in one thing only. Before coming to UK, I was already working in a software development company as a developer. I also am a musician. Self-taught guitarist and drummer. A choir "veteran" with many recordings on Youtube and Spotify and with 11 years of choir singing history. Under these different skills lies a very analytical mind that can see similarities and mechanisms of things. My analytical mind was further challenged and improved by the help of many great academicians, who I was lucky to have been students of. Also, the activity of teaching itself is the best learning method. Compared to just listening or reading some material, teaching makes many many more parts of the brain to focus and work at the same action. Hence, newer points of view appear in the mind of the teacher. If possible, absolutely no memorization should be done. If comprehension is not present, then either: 1) the student will forget the memorized thing after whatever reason it was memorized for (eg: exams, dissertations, etc.) passes or 2) the student will not understand where this information is useful, and this information will leave a bitter aftertaste as well as creating clutter in the student's mind.
