Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am a qualified primary school teacher who has worked in multiple schools across the wirral since beginning training in 2018. I have experience with both KS1 and KS2 children and children with SEND.

What do you specialise in?

I specialise in catch up sessions for KS1 and 2 children in maths and English.

How do your lessons usually plan out?

I offer lessons to suit the child. I ensure that lessons are informed by prior knowledge and assessment and give the children a memorable learning experience that responds to their individual needs. My lesson structure often begins with revisiting previous learning and then establishing that lesson's objectives. I then work through a number of exercises with the child, assessing as we go and end with a final assessment of the child's understanding before setting a homework task.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is ensuring all children are listened to, respected and actively involved in their own education. I do this by making lessons engaging and responding to the child's needs. This helps the child to develop intrinsic motivation and take ownership of their learning.

Which relevant qualifications do you have?

I have a degree in English literature and creative writing from Edge Hill University, a Primary PGDE from Liverpool John Moores University and I am currently studying towards an MA in Creative writing from Edge Hill University.

What are your interests outside of teaching?

As well as teaching I am a keen dancer and writer. I take a number of dance lessons on a weekly basis and I regularly write poetry and short stories that are published in various literary magazines. I am also currently learning Spanish and British Sign Language.
