A bit about Letitia M

Hi I am Leti! I am a secondary school teacher of Spanish, teaching up to GCSE level. I also have a Master's in ESOL. I would argue that language is one human race’s greatest achievement and the ability to converse with another person in a range of languages is remarkable. Communication ensures that in an increasingly globalised society, language is an effective tool and not a barrier. By teaching Languages, I take great pleasure in imparting knowledge, expanding horizons and inspiring change. I am a native English speaker with CELTA certification and a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with distinction. I have extensive experience of teaching English to non-native speakers of varying levels and age ranges in both Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and lived in Spain for 2 years. I have 5 years experience teaching Spanish in a secondary school, specialising in the GCSE exam board, Edexcel. I am also able to teach basic French and Portuguese. I currently teach secondary school students from year 7-11. I have previous experience in teaching content for the AQA exam board, but my specialism is Pearson Edexcel. I have a degree in Spanish (and TEFL). I have also lived and worked in Spain and go there twice a year, so would consider myself fluent. I have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in Modern Foreign Languages. I gained CELTA certification in 2014 and also have a Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with distinction. I have taught EFL to students of all ages and all levels in Europe and the Middle East in the last 8 years. My lessons are tailored to individual student needs and to suit different learning styles. I like to include a variety of all 4 skills-listening, reading, writing and speaking, unless a specific skill is requested. I tend to use sentence builders with a variety of vocabulary and grammatical structures included. Focus is placed upon introducing new vocabulary and practising pronunciation, which then leads to receptive practice (listening and reading) and then productive (written and speaking) skills. The methodology I use helps learners to create meaningful sentences from the get-go and provides both support and challenge at the same time. I am an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor of Spanish and EFL, offering outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. I thoroughly enjoy the ability to converse with others in a range of languages and believe that it is an invaluable skill to have. I realised by natural affinity for languages in secondary school when my French teacher put me forward for my GCSE exam 2 years early, in year 9. Wanting an extra challenge, I then decided to study Spanish for my remaining 2 years at school. During this time, I was lucky enough to go on holiday to Spanish-speaking countries with my family. I loved the satisfaction of having a conversation with the locals, and they appreciated the effort too! In my free time I enjoy baking, crafts and long walks.
