A bit about Georgia D

Hello! I specialise in teaching Physical Education, Health & Social Care, General Science (KS3) and Biology (KS4). This comes from 4 years of studying at University, 6+ years of teaching in New Zealand and 1 year in the UK. I am genuinely interested in these subjects, and enjoy teaching and discussing them with my students. My teaching style is predominantly student-centred. I enjoy finding out the way(s) my students work and learn best, and then tailoring lessons to suit this. I also enjoy getting students involved in learning and conversations so it is interactive, interesting and relevant. I am always open to feedback and adjustment of lessons to suit learners. Teaching is something I have been involved in throughout my life in multiple ways. I had great role models in youth group and holiday programme centres I was involved in growing up, and these relationships inspired me to teach. From being an older sibling, to working at a summer camp in America, I enjoy working with young people and helping them learn/experience success in education. These positive experiences led to me gaining my degree in Education. My greatest success has been helping my students achieve and experience success in and outside the classroom. Getting good results is important, and achieving what you work so hard for is a great success in itself, but the other parts of school are where some of the best memories can come from. Being a Physical Education teacher, you are often asked to take on extra responsibilities, but that is the best part! Being involved in sport, camps, outdoor education and other extra-curricular activities gives you the chance to connect and witness students having some of their best memories at school. The joy and growth seen here is definitely my greatest success. Those positive memories will stay with me for life.
