A bit about Alex W

With a passion for education and a dedication to helping students succeed, I bring 10 years of experience in tutoring Geography, History, ELA, and Science. My journey in education began with a deep fascination for natural world. As I delved deeper into its intricacies, I realized my true calling lay in sharing this knowledge and igniting a similar passion in others. My deep curiosity for the humanities has taken me to remote corners of the world, including breathtaking locations like Everest Base Camp, Cambodia, and Borneo. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of the subject but have also shaped my perspective on education and cultural exchange. Since then, I've had the privilege of guiding countless students through their academic journeys, helping them not only understand complex concepts but also develop the skills and confidence needed to excel. As a teacher, I cover many subjects, but my real focus and passion are Geography and History. I love helping students explore how places and events from the past are connected. I want them to see how geography shapes history and how history shapes geography. By making learning fun and showing how everything fits together, I hope to inspire students to understand the world better. Plus, I specialize in helping students prepare for their GCSE Geography exams. So, while I teach lots of topics, Geography and History are where I really shine as a teacher, especially when it comes to getting ready for those important exams. In my teaching style, I focus on you, the student. Each lesson is designed just for you, considering what you want to learn and what interests you. I'll do my best to make the lesson fun and easy to understand by connecting it to things you like or know about. My goal is to make sure you enjoy learning and feel like the lesson is made just for you. I began private, face to face tutoring alongside my full-time teaching job almost 10 years ago. However, three years ago, when the pandemic started, I shifted to online tutoring. Despite the change, online tutoring turned out to be really helpful. It allowed me to teach students from anywhere, and we could learn together without leaving our homes. I think online tutoring is a better option for our modern way of life because it offers flexibility and convenience, enabling students to learn at their own pace and from the comfort of their homes. Even though it was different, it was still a great way to help students learn and grow."
