A bit about Bev S

Fully trained teacher of Humanities with over twenty years of teaching experience, many as a Head of Department in busy secondary schools, successfully raising GCSE results in History and RS; the two best subjects on the curriculum! Nearly 20 years of experience in exam marking with Edexcel Pearson for the RS and History GCSE papers has given me an excellent understanding of GCSE exams, giving me great insight into how to coach students to pass them. (It's all about the skills and exam mark scheme. And some content too, of course.) My specialist subjects are History and RS. I have a degree in history, but have successfully led several RS departments during my 20 year teaching career. My GCSE exam marking experience has given me insight into how to help students improve their exam grades. It's the secret of my success within my departments. I have a BA degree in History, PGCE, MA in Writing for Children and MA in Theology (just finished that last one!). Edexcel Pearson, History and RS. So many things, but if I had to narrow it down to five, I'll go with travelling, reading, writing, movies and swimming. Oh, and theatre. (I know, I can't add up; that's six!) I love learning, and I love inspiring others to learn. I particularly love those 'penny drop' moments, when students 'get' something they've been struggling to get their heads around. I gain huge satisfaction at seeing a students' progress, getting better grades. Some of my most memorable moments in teaching involve the excitement of my students achieving their grade or going a few grades beyond their predicted.
