A bit about Brian

I am an experienced Science teacher, at a highly successful school in Oxfordshire. Our department has produced science scores within the top 2% of the entire country, with Biology scores rising year on year. I also teach combined GCSE science, covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I specialise in GCSE biology and KS3 science. I have taught combined GCSE science for the last 5 years. In my lessons, I like to assess students understanding within an area, address any misconceptions they may have, and enable response and problem solving in an exam scenario. New to tutoring, but have experience in 1-1 coaching sessions in cricket. I enjoy seeing students succeed within my subject area. The vastness of science, and realisation of how it connects with everyday life. I prefer a relaxed teaching atmosphere with question and answer from students. The ability to address areas of weakness and seeing students achieve better results Students being comfortable to address areas of misconception with low stakes questions and building contextual knowledge. Students appreciate that my lessons are fun, interesting and easier to understand. They feel safe and comfortable to attempt difficult questions. My greatest success within teaching, is taking a combined GCSE science student through the curriculum and working with her within the last 3 months of term to successfully sit and gain a grade 9 in Triple GCSE Biology, grade 8 in Chemistry and a 7 in Physics I hold a QTS in Science through the OTSA scitt. I have always had a passion to pass on my knowledge and experience, first in sports/PE, transitioning into teaching. I enjoy many things outside of teaching, such as; playing cricket, football, going to the cinema, and travelling. I currently teach OCR 21st century at GCSE, whilst teaching AQA at KS3
