A bit about Michael U

I am a lifelong IT training professional, who has worked in education across different sectors, from secondary education to industry training. I am passionate about teaching, learning and the journey of leading students towards becoming independent learners and achieving their goals. I love learning foreign languages and I'm currently learning French via Duolingo. I also play computer games and although I adore the graphic rendering on modern day games like Fortnite and Spiderman on the PS5 console which my son plays, I can't quite cope with how busy game play is, with lots happening on the screen all at once, so I'll stick to my 1 v 1 fighting games like Tekken and MK. I specialise in KS3, KS4 and GCSE Computer Science. Python programming proficient. Ubuntu Linux OS proficient to scripting level. Cisco Network and Windows 2008 server savy I teach OCR GCSE Computer Science. My favourite thing about being a tutor is the interaction with the tutee throughout the learning journey and watching them develop into confident independent learners I am in favour of the student-led approach to learning delivery, because I like guiding students towards identifying areas of strengths and areas of focus for improvements. Through discussions formal or informal, we forge a learning partnership that means teacher and student are clear on the goals we want to achieve and therefore set a path and means to accomplish it. I prefer this approach because the student is actively involved in the change process and will be able to see just how better they are becoming through each phase of the learning journey.
