A bit about Peter S

I've been a tutor at many different levels, for A-Level, GSCE and Key stage 2, and I love finding new ways that students challenge me and where I can learn from them! Physics and Maths are beautiful subjects where there may often only be one correct answer, but many ways to get there and creativity is often overlooked, so I always try to encourage students to look for the way that makes sense to them. I have an Astrophysics degree from the University of Bath, and I have As at A-Level in Further Maths and Biology as well as Physics. My thesis was about Black Hole merger events, and I'm always happy to talk about that! I also have experience working in industry and helping students apply to university. I also have CIE and Edexcel exam board experience. It really varies from student to student. I believe the best tutors are adaptable and should understand how their students learn - being able to take the time to tailor specific plans to that learner is what separates a tutor from a teacher with 20 students. A typical session might begin with a recap, discussing past work and learning objectives, and then finish with a fun tie-in to the work covered to cement the content. In a way I've been tutoring since I was a young student myself! I've always been involved in mentoring others, and I was head boy at both Primary and Prep schools. I started professionally tutoring in 2017 after I graduated from high school, and became a teaching assistant. I was also a peer mentor at university and Chairman of the Astrophysics society.
