A bit about Aminah

I am a qualified teacher and experienced Head of Department for Religious Education, Philosophy and Ethics. Within my teaching experience I have taught from primary age up to secondary age for A-level students. I have carried out the role of an AQA examiner and have in depth knowledge of this speciation as well as EDUCAS, EDEXCEL and OCR for Religious Studies. I have worked with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and mixed abilities this includes SEN students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. I specialise in KS3-KS5 Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics and also teach Humanities subjects of Geography and History for KS3-KS4. I have worked in a variety of settings and have extensive experience of supporting students who have a variety of needs and also have provided coaching to students on areas of life skills and effective revision strategies. I like to start off with a recap task that looks at prior learning and retrieval practice, we then go over any misconceptions or recheck of knowledge using the retrieval task. I ensure planning is linked to the student’s pace, use questioning, modelling and scaffolding and challenge tasks to ensure I cater to all abilities. I started tutoring 4 years ago and have been a classroom teach and head of department also I love the life opportunities that teaching my subject can provide for young people, Religious Studies and Humanities allows students to critically evaluate key beliefs and reflect and challenge their own belief and those around them. I also feel a sense of privilege to be part of the personal development of students through them acquiring knowledge of the subject and giving them the tools to reach their full potential. I adapt to the students needs, I offer a professional yet friendly approach that takes into account the needs of the young person also. Outside of teaching I have an interest in health and wellbeing and staying active and fit for mental and physical health
