A bit about Hayley K

I am a Mum of two and a qualified primary school teacher, with my qualification also covering secondary teaching as required. I am used to helping all ages of children with their English proficiency particularly and have worked in both KS1 and 2 as a class teacher. I am also experienced in teaching early maths and phonics. I have a lot of experience in working with young people and am confident that I can support exam success at a GCSE level as well. I have worked with children and young people since 2004, starting my career in teaching performing arts and pottery, before moving into the classroom in 2019. English at KS1/2/3/4 and creative writing. I also am confident in teaching all primary subjects as have worked as a teacher since September 2021 in both year 1, year 3, and now in year 5. I can teach 11+ and have experience of tutoring (on the English side particularly) at this level. I like to firstly assess your needs, this is normally done by a short online quiz or assessment. This helps me identify any gaps and allows me to compare your understanding to the national curriculum. Each lesson will then normally start with a warm up question, followed by time spent watching me model a new concept. I'll then let you practice this with my guidance and we'll work on any misconceptions. As a teenager! I was 16 when I started mentoring and tutoring children in music, some 20 years ago. I am now expanding out to English and Primary having managed to get my own child and her friends successfully through primary school and 11+. I am like to give lots of feedback to students on how to improve and like to take time to listen to them to find out what specifically they are finding difficult in their subject so that I can make a tailored plan to help them get the most value out of their time with me.
