A bit about Daniel R

Hi there, I'm Daniel! I have a BA from the Ivy League in the US, and an MLitt and PhD from St Andrews in Scotland. I have 25 years experience teaching English and Drama at secondary and university levels. Most recently, I worked as a university professor teaching English literature, creative writing, public speaking and theatre in Rome, Italy. Prior to that, I was Head of Theatre Arts at an international school in Shanghai, China, where I was also artistic director of a small theatre company. When I was Deputy Head of Sixth Form at an independent school in Cambridge I helped hundreds of students succeed with both UCAS applications and Oxbridge entry. I'm also a prize-winning author and public speaking coach. In other words, I have lots of skills to share! Students love that my teaching style is focussed and fun. They really appreciate the depth and breadth of subject knowledge I bring to my disciplines, namely English literature, theatre and drama, each of which I teach with boundless enthusiasm and empathy, while having as much fun as possible. In short, the thousands of students I have taught really appreciate that I am an excellent communicator, that I love my subject(s) and that I am dedicated to nurturing the best results. Previous students of mine have gone on to attend the world's most prestigious universities, be they Ivy League in the US, or Oxbridge and Russell Group universities in the UK. My absolute favourite thing about being a tutor is how that allows me to share my passion for literature and drama. When I think back to the best teachers I have had, through school and university, what sticks with me was their amazing enthusiasm for books and theatre, something I strive consistently to re-create in my own teaching.
