A bit about Stephanie M

I am an experienced teacher specialising in ICT, Computing and Creative iMedia at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. I have a wealth of knowledge together with the ability to create purposeful relationships with pupils. I specialise in ICT, Computing and Creative iMedia at Key Stage 3 and 4. I am also able to tutor Mathematics at Key Stage 3 level. I first started tutoring two years after I graduated back in 2007. I offered various subjects to both primary and secondary aged pupils. I know focus on ICT, Computing and Mathematics key skills. I teach across all key stages with experience in a number of exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR Nationals. Outside of teaching I enjoy walking my two dogs with my family, reading and practising yoga and mindfulness meditation. A number of things inspired me to want to become a teacher. Firstly, I had been part of a dance troupe since I was 5 years old then my sister and I took over the troupe so I have always been involved in helping others and in the community, either as dancing myself and as a dance teacher. 10 GCSEs, Bsc (Hons) degree in Key Stage 2/3 Education in ICT and with Qualified Teacher Status. I have got many stories of success during my teaching carerr but one that always stands out was when I worked with a disadvanategs pupil who had a negative view on education and schooling, no support from home, but with perseverance and investing quality time into this pupil, gibing my time up at break and lunch time and after school he managed to succeed in my subject by gaining a merit (equivalent to a B). He often returns to school to thank me and keep me updated on how he had to resit all his other subjects at college and through an access course to get on the engineering course he really wanted to do so much. I would describe my teaching style as supportive, interactive and transparent. I would also say that it is student-centred. It is relaxed and personalised. I enjoy watching my pupils/students grow, develop and change. The best things about teaching for me is witnessing pupils learn, progress and learn somethings every day. Everyday is different and I love sharing my enthusiasm for Computing and use of ICT. I love building rapport with my students and having that interaction with them. The students love my friendly, personalised, approachable element of my lessons. They know my high expectations and boundaries and understand and share ,y passion for education and success. I have been described as a 'role model' by many of my current and ex students. They enjoy listening to me using real life experiences and examples and connections to subject knowledge. I believe my role as an educator is to help shape pupils education experience and become the best version of themselves. I encourage the lifelong learning of my students. I set learning goals and through the use of appropriate teaching and learning strategies, I am able to assess pupil progress. I create a 'Can do' culture in my classroom/ learning environment. I enjoy having the opportunity of building a strong rapport and working relationship with my students and personalising their learning experience. It is so rewarding when I see the student making exceptional progress. having the direct influence on the students boosts my self-esteem and confidence. My lessons have clear objectives and expected outcomes. The student has the opportunity to make clear progress either via subject knowledge or software skills or a combination of both
