A bit about Adrian W

Always using current and relevant issues for students to engage with. Lessons can be fun. You will learn a lot linking subjects together. Metacognition (google it). Teaching 30 years so have impacted on thousands of students by now from classes of 33 to 1 on 1. I know about Geology too, but I am not a fossil (yet!) Tutoring is there to support students who maybe don't fully understand an idea or concept during the fast flowing course of a lesson. Tutoring used to be face to face only in the local area. With widespread online access however, I can now tutor students from anywhere in the world! I have been teaching since 1991 and have been lucky to teach in a variety of comprehensive and private schools in the UK and abroad from the tenth worst attended school in Britain to top International Schools in Asia and South America. As a Geography teacher it is only right I pass on some of my experiences of living amongst those different world cultures for my students. I also have a 15 and 17 year old, so I know a lot about relevant study passions and problems! Geography needs no selling to students- it is a fascinating blend of different ideas, concepts and skills related always to a real world context. History is a fascinating investigation into people and stories from the past from multiple perspectives to get true understanding. English literature from short poems to full blown novels have many ideas that can apply to our own lives and life styles. Students learn best from doing. A variety of modelled examples or situations can be used, but it is only reinforced by experience. The best learning comes from students actually teaching it back! I have taught students from the age of 10 up to 19 from primary year 6 to sixth form. I have taught TEFL to adult learners as well. I have taught virtually every exam board - AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge IGCSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) amongst them. I am a fully qualified UK teacher with a Humanities Bachelor of Arts Degree and PGCE. Now the only plan is decided by the individual student and their particular needs. I will work out the strengths and weaknesses of each student and this will determine the different teaching and learning approach!
