A bit about Victor D

An mathematics tutor with 2+ years experience, who helps KS3/GCSE students improve their understanding of maths, helping them answer exam questions with more confidence and clarity. I have previously helped students improve their grades and their understanding of different maths topics. I specialise in helping students understand how to apply maths formulas and use the right methods in order to correctly answer exam questions in mathematics. My experience lies in helping students who know the content or the concept of the maths topic but they don't know how to apply it in the exam. The lessons are personalised based on the needs of the student and the curriculum that the student is learning in school so the content of each lesson varies. In a 60 minute session, I would spend the first 5 minutes helping the student settle into the lesson, then I would spend 20 minutes teaching content to fill the gaps of knowledge the student may have. Then I would spend 30 minutes providing support to the student whilst they answer exam style questions related to that topic. I would then spend the last 5 minutes asking the student about the lesson, giving them an idea about the next lesson and then set homework for them to complete. I started 1-on-1 peer tutoring for GCSE Mathematics in 2016 until 2017 when I was an AS-Level Maths student, and then I provided 1-on-1 online tutoring 50+ students in 2022 and 2023. I love helping students understand that mathematics can be complex at times but if we break down topics and problems step-by-step, then mathematics becomes pretty simple and fun to do. I also love helping students take on challenges with courage to show them that it's fun to do so. Impacting the lives of my students. I enjoy being able to put a smile on the faces of the youth and also seeing their confidence towards maths improve. I believe in three principles when it comes to teaching mathematics. The first principle is to fill the gaps of knowledge. The second principle is to use flashcards or active recall to help remember what you learned. The third principle is apply the maths knowledge to exam questions correctly so the marks of the student improve.
