A bit about Becca D

Hi, I’m Becca! As a final year Molecular Biology student with four years of experience tutoring biology and English language, I am a huge fan of great science. Having experienced the challenges of going through (quite a few) exams, I get the struggle of trying to properly understand subject material, revise and have a life outside of school – been there, done that! I’ve also worked as a researcher in the R&D industry, which has made me love biology even more. I hope to encourage my students to enjoy science as much as me (or at least to understand it)! I’ve also tutored English language for four years and have written articles for news sites in addition to serving as an editor for my university's Science and Tech newspaper. I’ve picked up a lot along the way, and I want to help my students do the very best they can. My students love the holistic nature of my teaching - I tailor each lesson to the needs of individual students, whether they require help with understanding, want some extra exam practice, or want to talk through areas they are less comfortable with. My lesson style is informal, and I try to listen to my students as much as possible. Outside of teaching, I love reading, writing, hiking, climbing and cooking. I love that I get the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for my subjects with my tutees, and enjoy developing my teaching skills to personalise my teaching style for every tutee.
