A bit about Mairi J

My favourite thing about being a tutor is that I can really help an individual with their learning needs and focus on the things that students really want help with. I have degree from the University of St. Andrews in Biblical Studies and French, a PGDE teaching qualification from the University of Aberdeen and a TEFL online qualification from i-to-i Education Experts. I am a qualified French teacher with a degree in French from the University of St. Andrews and I have 15 years of teaching experience working with students in high school aged 11-18 years old. Learning a language is such an excellent skill to have both personally and professionally and there is nothing quite like helping students to develop their language learning skills. I teach National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher French (Scottish Curriculum) and tutor students in iGCSE. I have also taught students in younger years from S1 - S3 (Year 7 - Year 9). I enjoy a range of different hobbies including sewing, cross-stitch, gardening and photography. I am learning to bake my own bread and I am trying to grow some of my own vegetables which can be a struggle in the Scottish climate! I have relaxed teaching style that focuses on the student and their individual goals. I try to make lessons enjoyable and engaging and laid back as languages are always best learnt when you feel relaxed!
