Grade Booster - A Level High impact revision strategies to ensure you are exam ready! I pride myself in delivering this fascinating subject with humour, creativity and expertise in applying real life examples and engaging experiences to enhance student learning. This is often a new subject for most students and it is my mission to make their learning memorable in order for them to succeed in their examinations. Psychology is a social science that studies the mind and behaviour of individuals. It is a fascinating subject which is new to most students. It is suitable for a diverse range of students who wish to develop their interest and enjoyment of Psychology, fostering its value in lifelong learning. Psychology is defined as ‘the scientific study of the mind and behaviour’. Psychologists are concerned with increasing their knowledge and understanding of people and behaviour, and then applying their knowledge and understanding to bring about change for the better. The Psychology Department is a very popular department and has excellent examination results, which are well above the national average. The course allows students to pursue a diverse range of career paths and is good preparation for a variety of university degree courses. Throughout my teaching career, I have consistently delivered outstanding grade 1 lessons as reported by Ofsted inspectors. My lessons are innovative, creative and engaging which facilitates exceptional progress for all students. I have enjoyed being a P16 form tutor and taking a role in the pastoral development and care of students. I am responsible for guiding students through the UCAS process from supervising their personal statements through to writing their references. I have delivered tutorial programmes, staff briefings and P16 assemblies. I would like to continue to foster the teaching of good learning habits as well as teaching students transferable life skills preparing them for university or future employment. This can be achieved by working effectively with the careers department, through greater liaison with external agencies and by utilising the experiences and expertise of internal staff. As a committed professional I am an excellent role model for students and staff. I set myself challenging standards and aspire to excellence in all that I do. At the centre of my teaching and learning philosophy is the belief that there needs to be a holistic approach to education. I have always been supportive of extended curriculum activities, successfully forging relationships with outside agencies and the local community. I have played a key role in organising whole school events such as the Multicultural Mela, I have planned revision webinars, conferences and focused seminars involving guest speakers. As a proactive member of the P16 team I regularly organise P16 events, and cultural visits to ensure P16 students achieve both academically and become well rounded adults prepared for post academy life. As an experienced visit leader I have been involved in organising educational and cultural visits to London, Paris and New York. These examples of learning outside of the classroom have not only enthused students but have also greatly enhanced their cultural capital. Central to leading an outstanding department is building upon excellent examination results and ensuring that standards continue to rise. As an outstanding teacher with excellent subject knowledge I feel that I have the skills necessary to lead by example in developing this. I have a proven track record of exceptional examination results, including a 100% pass rate in my teaching career and one of the first departments in the UK to achieve a record number of 5 A* grades in our A Level examinations. In addition, I have developed intervention strategies to maximise student achievement and implemented a systematic approach to assessment with a rigorous evaluation of student performance.
