A bit about Sophie W

I am a very dedicated and hardworking individual. Teaching is my passion. I recently worked in a primary school and have now chosen to go into the world of tutoring! I am currently working on supply alongside tutoring. I have 3+ years experience teaching both KS1 and KS2. Whilst being on supply I have covered reception up to year 6, so I have a lot of experience of classroom based practice. My lessons are always created and tailored to each one of my students. With over three years of teaching experience, I have honed my skills and developed a deep understanding of effective pedagogy. My commitment to creating engaging and enriching learning environments has consistently translated into positive outcomes for my students. I am passionate about what I do and continuously strive to bring creativity and innovation into my teaching practice. I enjoy all subjects but my favourite have to be maths and design technology! As a creative professional, design technology holds a special place in my heart. Its seamless integration of innovation, problem-solving, and artistic expression resonates deeply with my passion for blending creativity with practical skills. I especially enjoy Maths as it really develops critical thinking and problem solving skills. My lessons are always creative as previously mentioned. I always try to used game-centred approaches as I believe taking this approach engages students more! My lessons are always centred on the children, so I ensure their interests are tailored to each lesson. I first started tutoring in 2023 alongside university. I have now chosen to do it full time! I love how I can add my own spin in each lessons. This means I am able to plan each lesson how I want to and think about how it would benefit each child! However, I would say the most rewarding part of teaching primary is watching students develop academically and become overall confident in the subject they originally struggled with. Working in a classroom enabled me to really help my students, there was particularly one student who found maths very daunted. They would find many topics difficult, however each lesson I took time to sit with that child and broke down each lesson into small steps so the child could master that specific lesson. This child was then seen to really progress and their confidence in maths increased dramatically over a few weeks.
