A bit about Kylie

I am a highly experienced Geography teacher who has held Subject leader and whole school teaching & learning roles. I currently teach Edexcel (A level) and AQA (for GCSE). I have also tutored A level AQA and various exam boards for GCSE. I specialise in Geography at GCSE and Alevel with a particular focus on highly successful exam technique and geographical skills. I can also provide support at Key Stage 3. All lessons include effective recall activities to build long term subject knowledge. They will also include in depth subject development as well as a focus on exam technique of various descriptions. I have been doing private tutoring on a one to one and small group basis for 8 years alongside my classroom teaching. Geography is a subject which is traditional yet contemporary. It’s dynamic and reflected in our day to day lives. Much of what we teach can been seen in the world around us and with many real life applications. I have a teaching style which is eclectic - I believe in variety and matching tasks to students. It’s important to adapt this on a lesson by lesson and topic by topic basis and ensure engagement in subject matter I enjoy working with students individually to help support their subject development and watch their progress. It also a great opportunity to personalise learning I believe all students have the potential to succeed in their own way, style and time. Learning is most beneficial when learners are engaged. Students say that my teaching style is engaging, fun and interactive. It also runs at a good pace and pupils are able to monitor and measure their own progress There have been many successes over my career. I find success comes at an individual, class and cohort level each academic year I have a 2:1 BSc in Geograohy as well as a PGCE on Secondary Geography teaching I never really knew what I wanted to do when I left university but during my 3rd year I spent a lot of time in schools as part of my dissertation. I visisted my old school and teachers and saw teaching in a new light and decided to pursue it from there and I have not looked back since I have 3 children, all boys, ages 8, 5 and 6 months! They keep my very busy. I also enjoy walking, running, socialising with friends and reading (when I get the time!) I currently teach Edexcel (A level) and AQA (for GCSE).
