As mathematics educators we need to foster commitment to mathematics learning with a view to increasing participation and raising awareness of the opportunities that studying mathematics can provide, both within and beyond STEM subjects. We need to exploit the opportunities to make the mathematics learning stimulating and raise expectations for all. This enthusiasm and interest in mathematics needs to be built throughout a student’s education starting in KS3 and below. The combination of passion for my subject and deep understanding of the subject pedagogy required to teach mathematics effectively, alongside my wider skill set, means I would be able to identify and target the needs of individual students. I have worked with teams that can demonstrate significant impact on the understanding of mathematics teaching and learning
I have experience of delivering lessons online and know how to design these to engage and motivate student. I can also use my extensive experience of teaching mathematics to identify and target students misunderstanding and misconceptions. I have extensive experience of the education system in the UK and abroad. I have delivered training to mathematics teachers in China and Pakistan. I have also delivered training to STEM teachers in Morocco and Columbia. I can draw on a wealth of resources that I have accumulated over the years and would be able to use these and my experience in schools to support my students to achieve their potential.
