A bit about Richard H

I hold a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status and have worked as a primary school teacher for 8 years. That time has been split between teaching Year 6 and working on academic interventions across the whole of Key Stages 1 and 2. I have helped children of all ages achieve their academic potential and have particular experience in preparing them for SATs. Every pupil has the potential to acheive highly and too often they are held back by self-doubt and anxiety. My teaching philosophy focuses on identifying each child's existing strengths and then working with them to build their confidence in the areas they find more challenging. Patience and empathy are at the core of my practice. Whilst I enjoy my whole class teaching, nothing brings as much professional satisfaction as tutoring. Being able to give a child the full attention they need and deserve is a great privilege. It is incredibly rewarding to see the rapid progress that my students make and, even more importantly, how their confidence grows with each session.
