A bit about Andrew R

Hello! My name is Andrew and I am a qualified primary school educator with a passion for sport and the outdoors. I have 7 years’ experience working with children from year 2 to year 8 across all subjects. I went into teaching after seeing the positive impact I could have on children’s lives whilst I was coaching sport. Fast forward 7 years and the motivation is still the same – seeing the smile on a child’s face when they realise ‘I can do it!’ Outside of teaching, I love to be outdoors - I surf, swim and lifeguard on the North Cornish Coast. I enjoy travelling and have spent several years teaching in international schools in Costa Rica and Indonesia. When I’m not teaching or playing sport, you’ll find me in my greenhouse looking after my plants. If you have any questions, please let me know. I’d be happy to help. I love seeing a child complete something they didn't believe the could do. We all remember what it's like being at school -feeling stuck, frustrated and not knowing how to get to the next bit. As an educator you have the power to help a child believe, to imagine they're more capable than they thought. It is a privilege being part of that process. Teaching is like a puzzle, and the style you choose to teach with will determine how quickly you'll solve the puzzle. Each student is different and a good educator will recognise that one style of teaching which is effective for one student is unlikely to work for another, it's up to me to get to know the student and work out what teaching style helps them achieve their goals. Something that is consistent throughout my teaching practice is my enthusiasm, love of teaching, patience and genuine desire to see each student reach their potential.
